Porch bench glider provides endless hours of relaxed and gentle rocking on the porch. An old bench can be easily converted to a glider with a pivot hinge and wood plugs and you can make a practical piece of furniture to a relaxing. Sand down bench with sandpaper and apply clear coat to make the bench look as good as new. Cut two hardwood planks measuring 2 inches wide and 2 inches more than the length between the rear and front legs on the bench. Cutting plug rods to measure a diamond.
The two vertical pieces on each side should have the same height as the handles on the bench above. The vertical dowels should slant from the end of the hardwood planks and the horizontal plug should be the same size and height as the handles on the porch bench glider. Hammer the vertical dowels for the horizontal plug on the top and bottom of the plank.

Build porch bench glider, repeat the process with another plank and another set of dowels third. Cut a more dowel to make a second horizontal beam about 3 inches below the tray on top. The dowel should meet the two vertical plugs approximately 2 inches below the horizontal plug on top. Repeat the process with the other stand. Turn the two at their sides. Copy and hammer the third plank to the center of the two lower horizontal plugs on both sides. The bench will rest on this plank.
